WK 46 - Put Them To The Test.

Isaiah 41:22-23 (NIV)

“Tell us, you idols, what is going to happen. Tell us what the former things were, so that we may consider them and know their final outcome. Or declare to us the things to come, tell us what the future holds, so we may know that you are gods. Do something, whether good or bad, so that we will be dismayed and filled with fear.”

This was a request for answers to some idols. The question points to the inability of these idols to answer the very basics of your life. The mystery of hope for the future is embedded into the promises of God not just for the present, but most importantly, the future. God looks into your history because he orchestrated it and can alter it through the present. He sees the worth in you and makes promises to keep you going for the next face of your life. The edge and motivation to live through the ages is fueled by your desire to attain what God has promised. Hope is a vital tool for the future and the prophetic keeps us aligned with the future. No idol nor demon can live up to the details of this scripture. They have eyes but can’t see, ears but can hear. When you feel doubtful, it is okay to ask these questions.

Speak Lord to my heart and reveal the mysteries of the future. I will hope in your love and hold on to your promises which will lead me to an expected end. Be my shield and guide. In Jesus' name I pray.
