1John 4:18 (NIV)
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
WORD:
From this text it is clear that love and fear are opposite and can’t exist except where love is not yet perfect. To walk in love is to assume the nature of God himself, willing and wishing total goodness and unselfishness in our dealings with one another. How can we love God and yet be feared by others. We aren’t instruments of God’s punishment but ambassadors and messengers of his provision and outstretched hand. Love implies attraction, fear repulsion; therefore fear exists not in love. Until we rid ourselves of the fears not only from our past, and the possibilities of the future, we shall never know what perfect love is. Perfect love may be impossible in our world today due to deceit, malice and pain but God’s assurance and word of hope will always be true. Fear not, Love again.
