Matthew 11:29 (NIV)
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
WORD:
Jesus is actually giving us the formula for rest. He asks that we learn from his humility and gentleness and we shall find rest for our souls. I have sometimes thought that being a Christian was hard and this was usually when I was either living in sin or not willing to totally surrender my ways. Jesus assures us that the joy of following him can’t be compared with the burden of worldly living. As co heirs to the father, having the same rights, we find great fulfillment and joy knowing we are right with him. Your yoke will be easy and your burden, light. Peace be unto you.
PRAYER:
Lord give us the strength to subject our pride and vain aggression to your will, taking up my cross and willingly following in your steps. Grant me rest O Lord. In Jesus name I pray
